The new labels, which made their debut on the 2024 Polestar 3, are more than just good news: They give specifics about how the seat materials affect the climate.

Labels are crucial. They inform individuals of content that they would not otherwise be aware of. However, did you know that some automobiles now come with labels? Since 2021, models manufactured by Polestar, Volvo's expanding all-electric subsidiary, have carried sustainability labels. The business has now made it clear that seat labels will be introduced to further promote its sustainability objectives.

A section below the headrests on the front seats of the 2024 Polestar 3 will list information about the impact of the materials used on the climate when production finally begins in the second half of 2023. Customers will have the option of choosing between MicroTech (also known as vinyl), as well as alternatives made of wool and nappa leather, both of which have been verified as coming from farms that raise animals in a responsible manner.

The carbon footprint, the percentage of recycled and renewable content, and the origin of the upholstery materials are all mentioned on the seat labels. Since Polestar claims to only know the carbon footprint of the nappa leather, images of the seat labels will contain some placeholders until the company confirms the remaining figures once production begins.

Polestar is of the opinion that the markers it uses not only make it more transparent about the company's promises and progress regarding sustainability, but that they also better inform customers about the products they are purchasing so that they can make informed decisions. The Polestar 2 hatchback is an illustration of the latter, as its CO2e (carbon dioxide equivalent) has decreased by 1.7 metric tons between its first two model years.

The company's labels, like those of the Polestar 2 and upcoming models like the 3, let you know how sustainable they are and how much of an impact they have on the environment.
