A new report says that Tesla will finally start mass producing its rumored Cybertruck at the end of 2023. That is two years after what was initially stated.

Elon Musk, Tesla's CEO, stated that production of the Cybertruck would begin in 2021 for the first time in 2019. Musk recently stated that early Cybertruck deliveries would begin in the middle of next year, and that date has since passed. According to two sources cited by Reuters, it now appears that mass production will begin at the end of 2023.

According to Reuters, buyers who have already paid the $100 deposit for a reservation appear to be set for an even longer wait before they can take delivery. This means that they will have to wait even longer.

Notably, Tesla hasn't said what the Cyberttruck's final price will be or what its final specifications will be when deliveries do start. During the 2019 announcement, the price was estimated to be around $40,000, but given the rate of inflation, that no longer seems even remotely likely to be the case. Over the past few years, Tesla has been steadily increasing the price of its existing line of electric vehicles, pointing to a significant price increase for the Cybertruck.

Regarding the continuing delays with Cybertruck, Musk has previously attributed the problem to shortages in global component supply. Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, new car deliveries from the majority of major manufacturers have been affected by similar issues. Tesla is not the only company experiencing these issues.
